Biography

Drew Frye

Drew Frye has cruised the Chesapeake Bay and mid-Atlantic coast aboard a variety of sailboats, including the Stiletto 27 Cherokee Sun, the 34-foot PDQ catamaran Shoal Survivor, and most recently a Corsair F-24 trimaran, always searching for out of the way places known only to locals.

An award-winning author, Frye has written several books on different aspects of sailing (listed below) and over 200 articles for popular sailing magazines, including Practical Sailor and Good Old Boat. Topics have included sailing, DIY projects, cruising, and unsurprisingly, all aspects of anchoring. A chemical engineer by training, a 40-year rock and ice climber, and a 30-year sailor by inclination, he brings a broad mix of experiences to solving boating problems and writing about them. His dock-mates have learned to expect "experiments in progress" both down at the end of the pier and onboard.
